A Brief Introduction to

Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM)

      Established in 1956, Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM) is affiliated to China Aviation Industry Corp.1, and it is the only integrated material research institute in China 's aviation industry.
      BIAM is mainly engaged in the technical research of metallic and non-metallic materials, hot processing, physical/chemical inspection as well as property characterization and evaluation for the application of presently researched and future-generation aircrafts, aircraft engines and helicopters in the aviation industry. The Institute is also involved in the research and development on advanced materials for China 's national defense industry and civilian application.
      BIAM owns two national key laboratories for defense science and technology research, 11 research laboratories, two production centers, and five subsidiary companies. BIAM has a graduate school and post-doctoral work station, and it is authorized to confer post-graduate and doctorate degrees in a number of academic fields.
      Corrosion and protection laboratory of BIAM is one of most important research center for corrosion and protection in China . The laboratory has four research groups that are environmental corrosion and protection, high temperature corrosion and protection, surface strengthening and civil technology development (R&D).
